Dear Friends,

My family and I would like to thank
you for allowing us the opportunity
to serve you through the Office of
Sheriff here in Towns County.  It
has been a privilege and an honor
to serve the county as Sheriff and
have the opportunity to get to
know so many of you who make
this county great.  I would like to
take this opportunity to let you
know that I will be seeking
re-election this year and to ask for
your continued prayers and

Over the last eight years, as other
counties have seen increased
crime, we have seen a decrease in
crime.  Most recent uniform crime
reports show crime in Towns
County is 31% below what is was
in 2007.  Burglaries have dropped
by 66% and Towns County is a
much safer place to live and raise a
Through good stewardship, we have managed to increase our visibility and
effectiveness, while staying below budget every year.  We have received over
a half million dollars in grant funds and private donations to the sheriff's
office to aid in these improvements.  In addition, and in an effort to promote
community involvement and awareness, we have implemented a Citizen Law
Enforcement Academy (CLEA) which has begun its fifth session and has
already saved the tax payers tens of thousands of dollars through the
volunteer efforts of our CLEA alumni.  In 2015, CLEA alumni volunteered a
total of 1,686 hours – the equivalent of over $34,000 in overtime savings to tax

We have been able to increase the effectiveness of each division by
increasing our standards for hiring, retaining, and promoting employees who
care about the community and getting the job done.  We have implemented
policies and procedures that are in keeping with the recognized best
practices for law enforcement.  Because of these policies and procedures, in
2012, we were able to achieve state accreditation for our sheriff's office, an
accomplishment which was reaffirmed in 2015 when we were re-approved for
state accreditation.  Towns County Sheriff's Office is one of only 20 sheriff's
offices out of Georgia's 159 to achieve and maintain state accreditation.

Proven honesty, accountability, professionalism, and good stewardship are
the building blocks upon which we have managed to achieve success.  With
these as a foundation and your continued support, we will continue to move
forward toward our goal of keeping Towns County one of the safest
communities to raise our families and retire in.

The primary election will be held on May 24th, 2016.  Early primary voting
begins on May 2nd, 2016 and Saturday voting occurs on May 14th.  I ask for
your continued support as I continue this work on your behalf.  If you'd like to
make a donation to my campaign for re-election, checks should be made out
to the Sheriff Chris Clinton Campaign Fund and mailed to P.O. Box 1224,
Young Harris, GA  30582.  For any questions or if you'd like to host an event,
